BROCKTON — The region’s first recreational marijuana store could be only a few weeks away from opening.
The Cannabis Control Commission on Friday granted In Good Health, the city’s only medical marijuana dispensary, an adult-use license.
We are grateful for the decision by the Cannabis Control Commission to grant an adult use license to In Good Health and we very much look forward to building on the foundation that we have established as a medical marijuana dispensary that provides high quality products in a clean, safe and modern environment,” said President David Noble. “We are also grateful for the support we have continuously received from the City of Brockton and look forward to meeting the needs of area residents.”
A spokesman for the business said it plans to open for recreational sales “in the coming weeks,” pending final inspections. A specific date has not yet been selected.
In Good Health previously received approval in the city, first from the City Council Public Safety Committee, then the City Council, in June. At the time of that vote, Noble said he was completing renovations after expanding his facilities at 1200 West Chestnut St. over the last year.
The business opened in 2015 and has strictly sold to patients with state-issued medical marijuana cards.
To accommodate the new business when it opens for recreational sales, Noble previously said In Good Health was planning to grow from 60 to 90 employees. The business also grows marijuana inside the building.
The closest recreational marijuana dispensaries to Brockton are currently Verilife in Wareham, Northeast Alternatives in Fall River and Solar Therapeutics in Somerset. Another company, ARL Healthcare, is planning to open a recreational dispensary – Panacea Wellness – in Middleboro this fall.
